“Doctor, I am in 9th month of pregnancy and keep on getting frequent pain down in the tummy. How do I know that this is labour pain or no? How will I know that my labour has begun? When should I come to the hospital for delivery?”
One of the most frequent questions asked by the pregnant girls. Aches and pains, heaviness in the lower abdomen… all pre-labour changes… cause anxiety in the minds of pregnant women. It is very common that women come to the hospital when they are not in false labour and we send them back home.
Here is a simple checklist that can help them decide when to go to the hospital.
How to do the checklist?
It is a very simple tool to use. When in doubt, take out the checklist. Read all the 4 questions and answer them. Make a total of the points that you get. If the total is 3 or above, you should proceed to the hospital. Generally it is expected that you should reach the hospital in an hour or two after you are done with the checklist.
